Moving away from monochrome

Monday, February 22, 2016

Last week's work included two Rebecca’s, and two kitchens, which move away from monochrome. Don’t get me wrong! I love an all white kitchen. I just renovated mine to be such. But, I also find two-tone really appealing. I may even paint out my lower cabinets, sometime in the future, to a different colour.

I worked with Rebecca Hay Interior Design to photograph this eye-catching kitchen staring deep blue cabinetry and, my favorite, brass hardware and lighting!  Who else is so in love blue and brass right now?  I also adore the raw wood open shelves, which were actually made by the client’s mother. But, the crème de la crème of the kitchen: her custom designed stools, which echo the brass, have matching yellow cushion tops, and dark wood legs. Lastly, the little bench and hook area super charming too!

The second Rebecca, Rebecca Goodman (who’s website is coming soon!), and second kitchen promote black as the colour of choice for the center island. The contrast is stunning, and works to bring attention to the texture of the herringbone back-splash. I love the brightness of the chrome stools here too.
